Hannah Lim British-Singaporean, b. 1998

Hannah Lim is a London-based artist working between sculpture, installation and drawing. She received her BA in sculpture from the University of Edinburgh and her MFA from The University of Oxford’s Ruskin School of Art.

Her work is deeply rooted in her mixed Singaporean and British heritage, a fusion that infuses her work with a unique perspective on the dialogue between East and West. Inspired by the ornate and fantastical nature of Chinoiserie; an 18th-century aesthetic trend in which elements of Chinese design were recreated in relation to European aesthetics and tastes. She has embarked on a quest to explore the complexities of Orientalism and reclaim this cultural dialogue in a more respectful and inclusive manner. Hannah's pieces exude a playful charm while carrying profound messages about identity, culture, and belonging.

Hannah has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally. In 2024, she was the Artist in Residence at Pangolin London, and she was commissioned by Tate Collective to create a sculpture in her ‘Snuff Bottle Series’ for Women's History Month. Additionally, she launched a public sculpture project with Greenwich Peninsula for Lunar New Year. She has collaborated with brands including Dolce & Gabbana and Bvlgari Hotel.
