Angela Palmer b. 1957
Angela Palmer's sculptural practice is driven by a desire to map her subjects and reveal their inner essence.
After a successful career in journalism, Palmer turned her inquisitive eye to sculpture to create 'objective portraits' that capture her subject's innermost details. Palmer is best known for her unique sculptural practice, building up layers of etching on glass to create a dimensional portrait that seems to be suspended in space. The artist has also collaborated with Renault to create a series of works exploring the world of Formula 1, including an exquisite blown glass helmet modelled on one worn by a well-known Renault driver.
