Victoria Atkinson British, b. 1961
Victoria Atkinson‘s work, though often abstracted, remains deeply human. She often draws on archetypes and myth, using simplified gesture and stance to suggest identity and inner life. Characters emerge through form and bearing rather than literal detail, giving the sculptures a timeless, contemplative quality.
An elected member of the Royal Society of Sculptors, Victoria Atkinson took her sculpture degree in London in the late 1980s where the emphasis was on a classical training in life drawing and modelling. Her commissioned work has been exhibited with the Society of Portrait Sculptors over several years. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition, Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne and often at the ING Discerning Eye, Mall Galleries. Atkinson is also a regular exhibitor at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol.
