Jeff Lowe British, b. 1952
"I make work that most people would call 'abstract'. I am not setting out to 'represent' something rather I am trying to 'present' something."
Since his education at Saint Martins School of Art under 'The New Generation' of British sculptors, Jeff Lowe has loved experimenting with industrial materials and releasing sculpture from the confines of the plinth. Having lived between London and Portugal since the 1970's, a move to a disused Art Deco Limework in Kent in 2017 prompted a shift in Lowe's work. Inspired its circular design and unusual architecture Lowe's sculpture has has responded directly and transgressed from cubic forms to much more organic shapes and curves.
