Inspired by a story from the Mabinogion, a collection of mythical Welsh tales compiled during the medieval period. The story tells of a woman created by the magicians Math and Gwydion, from flowers of broom, primrose, meadowsweet and oak, who was later turned into an owl as punishment. To some she is considered the Welsh goddess of Spring, symbolising resilience, new life and warmth after the long winter.
