In 1650 the Irish Archbishop James Ussher, Primate of all Ireland, used his calculations of the old testament patriarchs to determine what he believed to be the exact date of creation. According to him, the creation of the earth and all life on it, happened on Sunday 23 October 4004 BC....Before that, according to him there was nothing. Ussher himself was seen as a visionary and a luminary, and so his analyses were added to the appendix of the King James Bible. When Charles Darwin came up with his Theory of Evolution in 1859, there were challenges to that from many in the church authorities, and particularly the creationists. Consequently he showed them an ammonite that was many million years old. They discussed it between themselves and came back with the explanation that ''the devil put it on earth to trick us,''. Hence, this work..The Devil's Box Of Tricks. The fossil in the chamber is a Perisphinctes Ammonite from Madagascar and is 160 million years old.
