The work of Jon Buck has two key characteristics. Bright, vivid colours paired with simplified, gestural lines and shapes. These paired together give Buck’s subjects an almost totemic feel of which ‘Double Take’ is an excellent example. Buck continuously revisits the theme of birds within his sculpture and drawings, a love of which stems from when the artist worked at Bristol Zoo where he was asked to illustrate the bird information boards.
