'Solar' is an exquisite work highlighting Charlotte Mayer's unique ability to capture natural beauty in striking form. The point of balance, like the tail of a graceful bird skimming the surface of water, immobilises the serene motion. The clever engineering of the sculpture appears to defy gravity, much like the flight-giving wings its fronds portray, conjuring the little-understood synchronisation of a bird formation. An edition of Solar fittingly resides in the Cathay Pacific business class lounge at Hong Kong International Airport.
